New York Central 3001 | American Locomotive Project

The American Locomotive Project has been established to secure a new future for a landmark steam locomotive and transform it into the rail industry's newest cultural attraction.

Built for the New York Central by the American Locomotive Works in 1940, No. 3001 is poised for a resurgence, but this effort will only succeed with your support! Our total fundraising goal is $4.3 million, and our first deadline was met in 2025, but clear and consistent support for the locomotive must be proven for the project to proceed.

Our first milestone will cover the initial preparation, shipment, and mechanical teardown work to begin the restoration. Your donations can keep crews and volunteers at work on the Mohawk ongoing throughout the year.
